Collapse is the collapse action and effect . This verb indicates the action of precipitate, dismay, tear down or demolish , depending on the context. For example: "A landslide on the Mount of the Sacred Heart left three dead and ten wounded", "The authorities announced that the investigation of the restaurant's collapse will take several months", "Oscar managed to escape the miracle collapse: if he left a few seconds later, he died crushed".

Landslides can occur in different areas. In mountainous areas, landslides are frequent due to natural causes, when the erosion or weather conditions make great rocks they precipitate from elevated surfaces towards lower ones.

Landslides are also common in the mining . The works in the mines, with explosions and tools that hit the rocks, cause the fall of stones . One of the landslides that transcended worldwide was the one that occurred on August 5, 2010 in the San José de Copiapó mine (Chile ), which left 33 miners trapped for seventy days.

In cities, landslides are usually associated with construction failures or to attacks (as it happened with World trade center after the terrorist attacks).

Among the most important landslides in history, it is precisely that last one mentioned, that of the Twin Towers in New York, which took place on September 11, 2001 and which was the result of a terrorist attack carried out by some jihadist suicide bombers Al Qaeda.

What they did was hijack several passenger planes and then hit them against the mentioned buildings. The result of all this was the tragic death of more than three thousand people and injuries of varying severity in another six thousand.

However, if this event has been one of the most tragic in the recent history of the world, there is another that revolves around a landslide and is quite the opposite, one of the happiest and most hopeful of the twentieth century. We are referring to the fall of the Berlin Wall, which took place on November 9, 1989, after it had remained standing for almost three decades.

That was a wall, also called shame, that rose in the German capital to separate the area that was under the power of the German Federal Republic from the one under the control of the German Democratic Republic. That is, what was intended was to prevent a massive emigration of citizens from the latter to the first zone.

More than 110 kilometers in length was the one who tried to be skipped unsuccessfully by a multitude of people who perished in that need to be able to flee the life they had.

The notion of collapse can also be used symbolically to name something that falls or falls apart: "The collapse of the team occurred after Filibertti's injury", “For many people, such a tragedy would mean the collapse of the spirit: for me, it is only an obstacle to overcome”.
