Originating in Latin hospes, the word Guest describe the individual that is staying or staying in a foreign home or in a hotel room . For example: “Do not make noise, that tonight we have a guest at home”, “The hotel announced that next week it will open a swimming pool that will be available to all guests”, “Luckily we had made the reservation in advance: in the rooms there is no place for one more guest”.

In this sense, a guest may be the one who has been invited to spend the night in a private home. If a family hosts a friend who comes from abroad, the guest will become a guest of the clan in question.

Guest is also the customer who pays to use the facilities of a hotel , a hostel, an inn, a tourist hostel, etc. The subject pays a certain fee to stay at the place and make use of various services (bathroom, restaurant or others).

In this sense, it should be stressed that in the 19th century the term guest house was used very frequently. This was defined as an establishment where a person in question proceeded to rent a room and also paid a specific amount to enjoy the food.

Similar to the funds were these houses, although the latter prices were much cheaper than the first ones. Hence, for example, in Madrid at that time there were almost 500 homes of this type that had a very unique way of indicating that they had a free room.

Specifically, and given that they had a certain secret character, it was usual for anyone interested in renting one of these rooms to know that they had a hole in a house in it, a blank paper was placed on one of their balconies.

In addition to the above, it should be stressed that on many occasions the expression guest house was used to also refer to those known as dating houses. The latter were defined as homes in which, paying a certain amount set by the owner, rooms could be rented for sexual encounters.

Nor can we ignore that there is a colloquial adverbial phrase that uses the term host we are analyzing. Specifically, we are referring to "being a guest in your home" that is used to explain that a person is short in their home.

For the biology , a host is an organism (animal or plant) that has parasites inside. The correct term, anyway, would be host , host or host , since the parasite is, in fact, the host (for staying in a foreign body). This can be explained by the etymology of the term (hospes), which contemplated both meanings (the one that houses and the one that is hosted).

Interactions between the biological system and its host can develop differently and be framed within the parasitism (the parasite permanently resides in the host), the pathogenesis (a specific relationship according to the type of disease), the mutualism (fungi that depend on their host) and the commensalism .
