The rain is the raining act : the fall of Water from the clouds . The term, which derives from the Latin word rain, also refers to the water itself.

For example: "Tomorrow heavy rains are forecast throughout the province", “We were playing in the park when the rain surprised us and we had to go home”, "The rains caused serious flooding in the northern part of the country".

It can be said that rain is a Meteorological phenomenon . In the atmosphere there is always water in the form of steam: when that steam condenses, the clouds , which are small drops suspended in the air. For different reasons, that water can rush to the surface , generating the rain.

If the atmosphere cools, to name a case, it loses capacity to transport steam and precipitation occurs. Both the temperature as the atmospheric pressure and the humidity they affect the rain, which is measured in millimeters . When the diameter of the drops is very small, we talk about drizzle .

It is important to note that the rain has a great relevance for the ecology . The water that precipitates from the clouds favors the growth of the plants, increases the flow of the rivers and infiltrates the soil to end up in natural deposits or form underground currents. However, if the rains are excessive they can cause flooding .

In colloquial language, on the other hand, rain is said to a high amount or to the abundance Of something: "The government promised a rain of investments for next year", "The police were welcomed by the protesters with a shower of stones.".
